While this may (primarily) be considered as an ‘effects’ processor to most I, on the other hand, tend to use VocalSynth 2 for it’s incredible synthesis-capabilities. Yes, you’re CPU may end up taking a hit… but for a synth such as this, it’s worth it! While they certainly have an abundance of techniques in which to emulate classic hardware, for me, none live up to the accuracy and efficiency that The Legend’s true ‘polyphonic’ abilities are capable of (requiring NO workarounds, I must add!).

If you’re searching for an absolutely amazing Minimoog emulation that actually sounds like the original, and brings something new to the table…well, look no further, as The Legend is perfect for you!ĭuring my own Moog emulation shootout (with NI’s Monark, and Arturia’s Mini V), I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to discover that I actually preferred the Oscillators and Filters that The Legend had to offer. If you can only afford 1 plugin this year… make sure it’s this one! Pro-Q 3 included the addition of Dynamic EQ, the much-needed Brickwall slope setting for LP/HP filters, external spectrum visualization from any other Pro-Q 3 instance such as collision detection, Per-band mid/side or left/right processing (making it possible to EQ the mid, side, left, and/or right signals separately), and much, much more.

On top of that, they update the bundle constantly, and I haven’t been disappointed once.įor the affordable price of just $15 a month, Slate Digital’s plugins are not only my personal favorite, but they ended up being the most frequently used in any/all of my mixing sessions.įabFilter’s Pro-Q 2 held the title of engineers’ top, go-to choice for everything EQ, and just when I thought the bar couldn’t get any higher… FabFilter raised it yet again, with the introduction of Pro-Q 3! All of Slate Digitals’ Newest Releases (including the FG-Stress)Įvery single time I get an alert, or email letting me know that a new processor has been added to Slate’s ‘Everything Bundle,’ I drop everything I’m doing and download/update IMMEDIATELY… and it’s newest additions to the VMR (Virtual Mix Rack) are no different!Īnd, although I’ve only had my hands on a real Distressor a few (glorious) times, I can’t really say if it’s an insanely accurate replication of it’s hardware-counterpart or not… but if you don’t particularly favor it, I’m positive Slate’s FG-Stress will certainly impress you! RX was always an amazing tool for post-production edits, specifically for non-musical purposes, but they really changed the game with RX 7… not to mention widened their target audience by offering some extremely unique features that EVERY producer can take advantage of, such as being able to separate the vocal-content and the instrumental-content of anything you feed it (paving the way for DJs who want to bring the ‘mashup’ back in style!).Īside from that, it’s Restoration tools cannot be beat, and it truly incorporates something for every kind of producer including my absolute favorite module, which allows you to successfully remove the unwanted reverb/room noise from any file with ease.Ĥ. Keep in mind that, aside from when I was much younger, I seldom play the guitar in a physical manner, but I can assure you that these distortion-emulation pedals sound absolutely fantastic (and realistic) on just about everything!

This was another plugin that I was lucky enough to get as a free offer through Propellerhead and, again, I immediately fell in love… so much so, that I upgraded to the full version right away. The entire ‘Abbey Road’ Collection is absolutely brilliant and the newest addition has to be my favorite! The reverb that comes from a chamber is unique, works really well with any other reverbs that may be present, sounds great when blended, and just sort of tucks perfectly into the background.

Not only would I gladly have paid full price for it, but I now bring it into every single session of mine, just to see if I could possibly find a place for it (which I usually can). However, after I used it on an effect-send during one of my mixes, I absolutely fell in love. NOTE: I recommend checking their deals daily, as they’ll frequently offer your favorite plugins at that low of a price, even their brand new products! I have to admit, I really didn’t think I needed another chamber reverb plugin… honestly, I only bought it because I happened to catch it on a day Waves decided to list it at $29.
